5. How to replace VALVE COVER GASKETS on a Chevy 350 Squarebody Truck video [Wrench At Home]

Today I'm going to replace the old and leaky valve cover gaskets on the engine of my 1980 #GMC Sierra #Stepside #Squarebody truck. It has a Chevy 350 small-block under the hood thats a bit sweaty on both sides, with some oil running down the cylinder heads. I will also replace the crusty valve cover hold-down bolts with some shiny new ones.

The gaskets I'm going to use are re-usable blue Fel-pro performance gaskets. A bunch of people were recommending these online, so I'll give them a try. They are a combination of a molded silicone rubber with a steel core.

I got some chrome Y-wing valve cover bolts to replace the old ones on the truck. They are the same as the ones on the truck right now except I never got the top wing parts that you actually have to use to loosen them. I like the retro look of these and they make valve cover removal fast and easy, without having to use any tools whatsoever.

If you liked todays video please leave a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel to see future updates on my truck and other projects. Thanks!

The music I used in this video is from Epidemic Sound.

Also something to note around Wrench At Home: this channel is for my own entertainment and my videos are not meant as tutorials. My channel is just a documentation of me working on my own personal car(s) and I can't give any guarantees that the things I do will work for your particular car.

I am just a normal guy and by no means a trained mechanic (I design and build websites for a living). I try to do things myself while figuring out 'the how' with a little help from the internet. Please put any tips, pointers or extra info you can share with me in the comments of this video.

I hope you enjoy this video and if you do, please like the video and subscribe, it really helps out the channel. Thanks!
