However, before finishing the doughnut, Homer realizes that if he does not eat the entire donut, Ned will not be able to take his soul, so he places the last piece in the refrigerator. Unfortunately, he eats the final piece of the "forbidden doughnut" while half-asleep and hunting for a midnight snack, and Ned reappears to take possession of Homer's soul.
